September 2024: A Month to Remember!

Muniroh’s Bakery cakes all the way to Den Haag

September 2024 was an unforgettable month for me! Not only did I host a successful bake sale at the Molenmarkt in Wageningen, but I also had the incredible honor of providing cakes for a special event hosted by the Embassy of Malaysia in the Netherlands. The embassy held a reception in Den Haag to celebrate Malaysia’s National Day and Malaysia Day 2024, and they chose desserts from Muniroh’s Bakery, all the way from Wageningen!

For this event, I created a selection of Southeast Asian-inspired desserts to reflect Malaysia’s rich culture and bring a taste of home to Malaysians living in the Netherlands. My centerpiece was a pandan cake in a vintage design, decorated in the colors of the Malaysian flag, Jalur Gemilang, — white, red, blue, and yellow. I also made pandan and nangka (jackfruit) sheet cakes, as well as mini durian Basque cheesecakes.

Since I don’t have a car, I relied on Dilman Logistics in Wageningen to deliver the cakes safely to Den Haag. A big thank you to them for their excellent service! I’m also incredibly grateful to my wonderful friends who helped me set up the dessert table, took photos and videos, and kept me company throughout the event.

I’m deeply thankful to the Malaysian Embassy and Perwakilan Den Haag for trusting me with this opportunity. It was truly an honor to contribute to such an important celebration. Knowing that my desserts brought joy to so many people, especially fellow Malaysians, made all the hard work worthwhile. It was a night to remember.

This experience has been a milestone for Muniroh’s Bakery and a reminder of how far I’ve come on this journey. It’s moments like these that motivate me to keep going, creating desserts that bring people together and celebrate our shared culture.
